Bridgestone EMEA has achieved the top ‘Platinum’ rating from leading global sustainability business ratings provider, EcoVadis, in 2024. It is the fourth consecutive year Bridgestone EMEA has earned Platinum status, which places it in the top one percent of approximately 130,000 companies assessed globally by EcoVadis.
EcoVadis scores organisations within four core areas: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Scores are based on the quality of a company’s sustainability management systems and its commitment to promoting transparency throughout the value chain. In 2024, Bridgestone EMEA received a 100 percent score in the Environment area.
“This year’s scorecard recognises great work being done across Bridgestone, particularly the efforts of our Environment team with a remarkable perfect score. This Platinum rating is a great achievement, but it doesn’t signify that our work is complete. The EcoVadis assessment is an opportunity to highlight Bridgestone’s sustainability progress and achievements, but it is also a guide that continues to illuminate the areas we still need to improve,” said Laurent Dartoux, Bridgestone EMEA Management Board Chair and Group President.
Sustainability highlights for 2024
Bridgestone EMEA’s Platinum EcoVadis rating is the result of the company’s commitment to evolving its sustainability approach. These efforts are embedded in the company’s Sustainability Business Model and guided by its corporate Bridgestone E8 Commitment.
The Platinum achievement in 2024 coincides with several recent sustainability highlights for the company. Of note, based on the independently verified 2023 Bridgestone EMEA Report on Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, the Bridgestone EMEA Manufacturing plants have reduced their Carbon Dioxide Equivalent (CO2E) emissions by 66% compared to their 2011 level.1
Additional recent Bridgestone sustainability highlights include:
Bridgestone EMEA first attained Platinum EcoVadis status in 2021. The company was first assessed by EcoVadis in 2015, receiving an initial Silver rating for placement within the top 12 percent of businesses globally. The company climbed to the top seven percent a year later and the top four percent in 2018 before receiving Gold status in 2019.
