GRI Completes Second Phase of Plant Expansion

Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. (GRI) has completed the second phase of the $100 million capacity upgrade of its specialty tire plant in Sri Lanka.

The goal of the investment is to increase GRI’s total production capacity to 750,000 tires a year.

The expansion includes the addition of eight new tire building machines and 17 curing presses, plus “state-of-the-art technology for real-time decision making and machine optimization and a constant focus on R&D enhancement of physical infrastructure in the factory premises,” say GRI officials. …
