#TRACTION4CHANGE: ETRMA’s Manifesto for the Next EU Political Mandate

The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) published its Manifesto for the 2024-2029 legislative period: “#TRACTION4CHANGE: A shared agenda for a competitive, secure and inclusive Europe”.

The Manifesto advocates for strategic measures to enhance the sector’s industrial competitiveness and support its pivotal role in fostering zero-emission mobility, circularity, and sustainability while providing digital solutions to elevate vehicle safety, efficiency, and environmental performance.

‘’To enable the European Union to continue its leadership in the digital and green transitions, a renewed focus on industry and its competitiveness is required”, stated ETRMA President Chris Delaney. “The European tyre and rubber industry is an essential part of enabling safe and sustainable mobility and I am pleased to present our vision for the next EU institutional cycle”.

“The European tyre and rubber industry provides the traction for Europe’s economy and society”, echoed Adam McCarthy, ETRMA Secretary General. “We urge European policymakers to join us in setting an agenda for a competitive Europe that delivers on both the digital and green transition”.

ETRMA’s Manifesto calls on European policymakers to join the tyre and rubber industry in setting an agenda for a competitive Europe that:

  1. Recognises the strategic role of the European tyre and rubber industry and enhances its competitiveness.
  2. Safeguards the single market by effectively implementing and enforcing legislation.
  3. Encourages investment in Europe through consistent and proportionate future regulation
  4. Increases Europe’s sustainability by designing and manufacturing circular and renewable products.
  5. Increases consumer choice, improves sustainable mobility and makes roads safer by enabling digital mobility systems.

ETRMA looks forward to continuing its fruitful collaboration with policymakers and all stakeholders to help develop effective, balanced and science-based policies yielding benefits for the environment, consumers and businesses.
