New Tires Too Expensive for Some Young Canadian Drivers: Survey

The cost of operating a vehicle in Canada doesn’t stop with a monthly payment to the bank, a point we attempt to make in our series detailing three-year cost of ownership stats for popular vehicles. Fuel, insurance, and repairs are just some of the ongoing expenses.

As are tires. Those four rubber hoops on each corner of a vehicle aren’t cheap, a detail reinforced by a new study from the folks at Hankook Tire. According to data collected by that company, almost half of Canadian drivers below the age of 35 have delayed replacing tires when needed, while only 44% of that same group cop to having a professional mechanic inspect their car’s tires every year.
