Toyo Tires Wins 2023 Red Dot Award for Product Design

Toyo Tire Corporation (Headquarters: Itami City, Hyogo Prefecture; President & CEO: Takashi Shimizu; hereinafter, “Toyo Tire”) announces that its PROXES Sport 2, a premium sport tire, received the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2023, a prestigious international design award.

The Red Dot Design Award has a history of more than 60 years since its inauguration in 1955. Organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen of Germany, it is hailed as one of the world’s three largest design awards, along with the iF Design Award and the International Design Excellence Awards. It breaks down into three disciplines: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept. Every year, as many as 20,000 submissions from around the world are evaluated by a jury consisting of world-leading design specialists.

The PROXES Sport 2 is a premium sport tire which creates a high level of performance in handling and braking, two critical features of sport tires. Utilizing two of Toyo Tire’s proprietary technologies, the “T-MODE,” its unique tire development platform, for pattern design and the Nano Balance Technology for rubber material development, this premium sport tire features an asymmetric tread pattern* and rubber compound, each playing different functions. * Tread pattern: A groove or sipes carved in the tire tread

“We were impressed by the asymmetric tread pattern with diagonal lateral cross grooves that ensure the even distribution of contact forces, enhancing braking performance on both wet and dry roads,” complimented the jury of the Red Dot Award.

Toyo Tire will remain committed to developing high-value-added tires while constantly advancing the performance required of automotive tires.
