Lime Rock Park Announces Toyo Tires as Official Tire for Historic Festival 42

Lime Rock Park fans will see a new partner around the track this summer as the park is excited to announce Toyo Tires® as the Official Tire for the highly anticipated Historic Festival 42 (Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 2024).

This year’s long-running event will feature a new spotlight class, the Turn of the Century World Challenge group. This class will debut production-based street stock race cars from the 1995-2005 era, prepared for the SCCA World Challenge, Motorola Cup, and various national and international categories.

As part of the partnership, Toyo Tires has been designated as the Spec Tire for the new group, with teams set to compete on the new Toyo® Proxes® R DOT competition tire.

« We are excited to welcome Toyo Tires as a key partner for this year’s Historic Festival, » said Lime Rock Park CMO Jamie Kistner. « Their commitment to innovation and performance is perfectly aligned with the spirit of our event. The Toyo Proxes R tires has exceptional grip and durability, which make it an ideal choice for our competitive racing classes. Toyo Tires sponsors high-profile organizations like the UFC® and the National Auto Sport Association, and now Lime Rock Park is added to that prestigious partnership list. »

Founded in 1966, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. (Toyo Tires) is recognized globally for its innovation, quality and performance, offering a wide range of premium replacement tires for light trucks, SUVs, high-performance cars, luxury vehicles and commercial trucks, many of which, like the spec Proxes R, are manufactured in its state-of-the-art facility in Japan.

The new Toyo Proxes R DOT competition tire is designed for dry road racing and high-performance driving on the tracks like Lime Rock Park, offering racers quicker lap times, improved stability, and heightened responsiveness than its predecessor, the Proxes® RR, while retaining its highly regarded consistency and durability. Featuring a new tread compound and a reinforced sidewall for more grip and precision, grassroots racers, track day enthusiasts, and those honing their skills at high-performance driving experiences will enjoy the exhilarating feeling of the Proxes R while achieving their best laps of the day.

The Toyo Tire name is very familiar within motorsport, having initially entered the North American scene in 1984 with the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy/Escort Endurance Series before becoming the official spec tire of the Professional Sports Car Racing Speedvision Cup in the mid-1990s. The renown tire manufacturer was also the spec tire for the World Challenge series in the early 2000s, the same era as the cars that will be competing in the new Turn of the Century World Challenge group at Historic Festival 42.

“At Toyo Tires, we pride ourselves on producing quality, high performance products that meet the incredible demands of competitive racing,” said Stan Chen, senior manager, events, sponsorships and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “We are excited to partner with Lime Rock Park to showcase our Proxes R tire at the Historic Festival 42.”

Lime Rock Historic Festival 42, which will celebrate Ford Motorsports and the Ford Mustang as the featured marque, launches into action over Labor Day weekend with a 17-mile tour through the area on Thurs., Aug. 29 with the Historic Festival Parade presented by NBT Bank. Friday, Saturday and Monday feature non-stop, on-track competition across a diverse set of historic racing classes.
