Michelin Making Motorcycle Race Tires Out of Orange Peels

The ingredients in the company’s latest bike tires sound more like a high-end romaine salad rather than sticky race rubber

MotoE is motorcycling’s equivalent to Formula E, all the bikes entered powered by battery. Sustainability with speed is its entire raison d’etre.

Hence why Michelin, the series’ sole tire supplier, takes great pains to make everything about the motorcycles doing the racing as “green” as possible. Prior to the 2021 season, the French tire giant announced that 33 per cent of all the front tires used on all the bikes would be made of renewable materials, while the rears would have an even slightly better ratio. …
