Michelin Data Scientists Win Torqata Hackathon

Torqata, in partnership with sponsor American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD), Google Cloud and Continental Tire the America LLC, named a group of data scientists from Michelin North America Inc., Team Bib, the winners of the 2022 “Reinvent the Wheel” Hackathon on Nov. 11 in Huntersville, N.C.

This year, the Hackathons’ problem focused on sustainability and minimizing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the recycling of millions of scrap tires collected in the United States every year.

The 21 teams – consisting of more than 100 students and professionals – had 24 hours to tackle two challenges: forecasting inbound scrap tire supply and optimizing how these scraps get recycled while minimizing GHG. …
